A BBC Radio adaptation in three parts by Barry Campbell of the classic novel by James Hilton.

In May 1931, an airplane evacuating a number of people from a province in India overrun by revolution is mysteriously hijacked, but crash-lands somewhere in the mountains of Tibet, killing the pilot. The passengers, which include a British diplomat and his young associate, an American businessman and a British female missionary, are rescued by a party from the nearby lamasery of Shangri-La and taken there. Once there, they are assured that they will be returned to civilization as soon as it can possibly be arranged, but Hugh Conway, the diplomat, begins to notice that not is their departure being subtly delayed but also there are more questions than answers at Shangri-La ... questions whose answers, if true, might prove too unbelievable ...
