from archive.org
Lyle Trytten from Edmonton, Alberta wanted to hear episode 1 of the 4 part IDEAS series Counting The Costs. The documentary deals with the Three Mile Island nuclear incident that shook the world in 1979. With the ongoing situation at the Fukushima nuclear power plant after the earthquake in Japan, it seemed like the right time to replay this documentary, originally aired October 13, 1986.
After hearing Part One of the Ideas documentary "Counting the Costs: Three Mile Island," Don McManman of Shoreline, Washington requested that we podcast Part Two. It originally aired on October 21st, 1986.
Darin Watson of Calgary, Alberta requested Part Three of Ideas' Counting the Costs series. The fiery destruction of the Soviet atomic reactor at Chernobyl shows how wide-spread the effects can be, from a serious nuclear accident. What's next?
David Curwen of Sooke, BC called in to request Part Four of Ideas' Counting the Costs series. It's called "Darlington to Decommissioning" and it was originally broadcast on January 8th, 1998, a few months after Ontario Hydro announced that it would be taking seven of its 21 reactors out of service indefinitely.
