Opie and Anthony is an American radio show hosted by Gregg "Opie" Hughes and Anthony Cumia that aired from 1995 to 2014, with comedian Jim Norton serving as co-host from 2001. Hughes first met Cumia in 1994 when he held a song parody contest on his night time show at WBAB on Long Island, New York. The pair hit it off, and decided to become a radio team.
The show launched in March 1995 in afternoons at WAAF in Boston, Massachusetts. In June 1998, after an April Fools Day prank that had them fired from WAAF, Hughes and Cumia relocated to WNEW in New York City where the show entered national syndication in 2001 by Infinity Broadcasting. In August 2002, the show was cancelled for a controversial segment known as "Sex for Sam". For the next two years, Infinity prevented Hughes and Cumia from being hired elsewhere for the remainder of their contracts.
In October 2004, Opie and Anthony returned to the air in mornings on XM Satellite Radio, a subscription-based satellite radio service, from New York City. From April 2006 to March 2009, the first half of the show aired nationwide on terrestrial radio stations owned by CBS Radio. On July 3, 2014, the show ended after SiriusXM fired Cumia for a series of tweets that it claimed were "racially-charged and hate-filled". Hughes and Norton teamed to host Opie with Jim Norton and Cumia launched his own show, The Anthony Cumia Show.

O&A Fan/Erock song maker, Shawn F, surprises Erik and performs his songs live.February 24 - After Jocktober's greatest punching bag, Scott Shannon leaves WPLJ, the boys waste no time riffing on Todd's first solo show.February 28 - Scott Shannon calls into the show for the first time. Scott tells stories of dealing with O&A fans and becomes cool with the show.March 17-21 - Lady Di's disastrous paid internship with O&A.April 14 - During the show, Jimmy learns and announces Otto unexpectedly passed away. He was 53.April 17 - The boys come together for a special live Unmasked hosted by Ron Bennington to celebrate 20 years together.April 28 - Lady Di reveals she was doing crack in 2011.April 29 - Friend of the show Mike Baker unexpectedly comes in studio after being booked by a fake Roland Twitter account.May 16 - Super Show 3 takes place.June 24 - Tim Sabean is fired by SiriusXM.July 2 - Anthony is physically attacked by a black woman for taking pictures.July 4 - SiriusXM fires Anthony for "racial" tirade on Twitter, thus effectively ending The Opie and Anthony Show at 20 years. Your mom's box!July 14 - Under contractual obligation, Opie and Jimmy return to the air without Anthony to finish out their contract. The channel is renamed "SiriusXM Talk".July 28 - Di's roommate, Bill, dies. This was the only day she cried over the man who took care of her for years. She called the next day to discuss the death.August 4 - "The Anthony Cumia Show" debuts on anthonycumia.com, which airs Monday - Thursday, 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., EST.September 23 - Anthony announces that Opie and Jim have re-signed with SiruisXM. Opie and Jim confirm this a week later.September 25 - Sal's last day on the show.October 7 - Opie and Jim's show, which went nameless after Anthony's firing, is named "Opie Radio".October 13 - Comedian Esther Ku performs a speed orgasm live on the show.October 24 - Opie eats eggs after having roaches crawl all over it.October 30 - Former Boston Mayor, Thomas Menino, dies at 71.November 15 - Opie announces Troy Quan is finally allowed back on the air. Opie also announces the O&A archive was given back and the show can now play bits with Anthony in them.
