Before being adapted for television, this 6 part radio series and "Christmas Special" was a set of spoof documentaries in which journalist Roy Mallard spends a day shadowing somebody in a particular job.
Each of the characters he shadows are particularly ghastly and constantly throw the interviewer off balance. Running jokes throughout are that Mallard is the world's worst radio journalist, is forever hoping for a coffee and or lunch - neither of which he ever receives - plus in each episode being asked "are you married?" and when he answers in the affirmative, being met with incredulity.
